A Party at Robert's House

Last Friday, my friend Linda invited me to a party at Robert's house. I was really excited because I've had a crush on Robert for almost a year. I put on my hottest outfit for the party. Robert's eyes nearly fell out of his head when he opened the door. I thought to myself that this might finally be the night we get to know each other. Unfortunately, it was time to go home before I had a chance to really talk to Robert alone. So I called my mom to ask her if I could spend the night at Linda's house. She said yes and when I got off the phone, I turned around to find Robert standing right behind me.

Robert asked me to dance with him and I happily accepted. We spent some time getting to know each other. He was really making me laugh. Then, when we were dancing to a slow song, he invited me to his room, and said he had something to show me. I could see everyone watching as we walked into his room. I felt a little nervous about going in there, but I had wanted to spend some time alone with him. When we got into his room, he closed the door behind me. That made me even more nervous, but I knew we weren't alone in the house. I sat down on the bed to look through some CDs. He told me I could take one home. He sat next to me and started stroking my hair. I turned to say thank you for the CD and he kissed me. It felt really good. But then he pushed for more.

He started pushing me onto the bed and trying to climb on top of me. I asked him to stop but he wouldn't listen. He said, "Don't worry, it'll be okay," and he kept putting his mouth over mine to kiss me and keep me quiet. He put his hand under my skirt. I told him no, but he still wouldn't listen. He just kept telling me that everything would be okay and that he was falling in love with me. I never expected all this and I didn't know what to do. Well, he did what he wanted to do. When he got off me I left the room to go find Linda. I felt really guilty and ashamed. I felt like it was my fault. I now know I did nothing wrong. I said no. He raped me.

Rape is never the victim's fault. Victims often feel somehow responsible, especially when the rape is committed by someone they know.
